Description - Got buckling issues with your Nitro Tiles? Then you need our Nitro Tile Expansion Joints. The buckling you are experiencing is caused by the heating and cooling of the tiles throughout the day. We typically see the worst buckling with garages that are East, North, or West facing. These joints will help your floor to properly expand and contract no matter how your garage is oriented.

Expansion Joint Installation

Where to install the expansion joints will depend on how large your garage is. For one car and two car garages, placing the expansion joints in the middle of the floor will be good enough to take care of any buckling issues.

For three car garages, you will want to install the expansion joints in the middle of both the large bay door and the small one. This will help to ensure buckling doesn't transfer throughout the floor.

For large warehouse spaces that experience buckling, you will want to install the expansion joints in a perpendicular pattern in the middle of the floor. You will use our Expansion Intersection Joint to create this effect.

If you have edging at the entrance to your garage or warehouse, you will want to use our Expansion Joint Edges to fill in the space that will not be created when adding the expansion joints.

Don't see what you're looking for?
I see you have expansion joints. If you have already laid a floor just how do you open the floor out to install. It seems to be a very difficult, time-consuming a likely to break the tabs if trying to install this way.

Installing our Nitro Tile Expansion Joints is straightforward. What you will need to do first is to separate the floor down the middle. You can do this by pulling on the tiles at the entrance. No matter how you install your flooring, you will want to pull up the flooring at the point where the Male Pegs meet the Female Loops. Once you have the floor separated, you more than likely will also need to remove the row of tiles next to your walls. If you wanted to replace these tiles, you will more than likely need to cut the tiles to fit your space. Once you have your floor separated, you will now want to install the expansion joints. Once they are in place, you will then connect the two halves of your floor, and now your garage floor is protected from buckling.

I installed expansion joints when I installed my new garage floor. I had read about some buckling due to sunlight exposure, etc. I installed the expansion joints right in the middle of my garage floor, they look great they perform great, they help the floor to flex especially when I pull a car in the garage. I’m so glad Added them when I installed my new garage flooring.
