Customer Questions

Ask a Question
How do these hold up to hot tire marking?
Our Vented Grid-Loc Tiles are made from a hard polypropylene plastic and will not be damaged by hot tires.
Will the vented grid lock and/or coin grid lock tiles follow the contour or low spots on the garage floor where water normally will puddle or do I have to fix those low spots first? Is shimming an option? How?
The Vented Grid-Loc and Coin Grid-Loc tiles are a hard plastic tile. They will not contour with the low spots in your floor but will lay over top of them if they are small. If there are large low spots, you may have issues with the tiles interlocking properly. In this case you would have to fix the subfloor for the tiles to properly interlock. Shims probably would not work in this situation because they are typically used to fill small gaps or spaces between objects.
Are these mold/mildew resistant like the ones for wet locations like gyms?
Our Vented Grid-Loc Tiles are mold and mildew resistant.
I am looking for a tile that will stand up to the direct sunlight of southern Florida. I want to place them on my driveway. Will the grid lock tiles fit this need?
Our Vented Grid-Loc Tiles work fine in direct sunlight.
How do you clean these tiles from winter chunks of snow-ice dropping from car tires? The top of the tiles are very dirty from snow slush.
The best way to clean our Vented Grid-Loc Tiles is to mop the tiles with a mild soap and water solution and to rinse them with a hose. This will ensure any stuck on dirt and debris is removed.
Would these tiles be recommended for an outdoor basketball court that will be driven and parked on when not being used for basketball? Meaning, is it paintable and will it be slip-resistant?
Our Vented Grid-Loc Tiles can be used as an outdoor basketball court and can be driven over. These tiles were made for use in garages, but are made from the same material court flooring for sports is. You can paint lines on these tiles, and they are very easy to install and maintain.
Are these appropriate for use on my pool deck (over and existing but old concrete Deck.)? Can these tiles be cut (by me of course) to contour with the edge of my freeform pool? Thanks.
Our Vented Grid-Loc Tiles can be used outdoors and can be cut to the curvature of your pool. We do have other tiles that are better suited for this application. Our Mateflex Classic tile is softer under foot and easier to cut with a sharp utility knife to the curvature of your pool.
How well do these allow dirt to wash away from underneath?
With water, you can easily wash any dirt from under our Vented Grid-Loc Tiles.
Can these be easily unsnapped to be removed to clean underneath? We have a wet basement, so I want to potentially be able to remove them to dry both the tiles and the concrete floor during the wet season. Thanks!
Our Vented Grid-Loc Tiles are very easy to install and uninstall. No special tools are necessary to accomplish this.
I'm looking at the vented locking tile, how do they hold up with snow and ice defrosting off the cars. I'm from Syracuse, NY and I am looking for something to put on my garage floor so its not slippery after the snow or ice melt.
Our Vented Grid-Loc Tiles have been installed all over the US and Canada and are were specifically made for snow and ice melt. These tiles allow the water to properly drain through and under the floor and out of your garage. They will not cause a slip hazard since the water will not pool on the surface of the tiles.
Crazy thought but my wife wears high heels daily, will the gap in the vented tiles cause a issue with her heels getting pushed through or possibly cracking the tile from the small point of contact and the gaps in the tiles?
The vents in our Vented Grid-Loc Tiles have been designed to be heel safe. So almost all heels will not get stuck in our Vented Grid-Loc Tiles.
I am thinking of the vented tiles for my garage and putting the thin mat layer underneath to reduce the plastic noise when parking my cars on it. However, will the mat underneath collect the water that drains through?
If you place a mat underneath the Vented Grid-Loc Tiles, it will collect any dirt, debris, or water that gets through the floor.
If no drain is in the garage- what happens to the water for ice/snow melt off? Does it just dry up? Want to add a garage heater, but don't want to pay the costs to add the drain.
If you have not drain in your garage, the water will either evaporate or floor under our Vented Grid-Loc Tiles and out to the street.
Does this type of vented plastic tile create excess noise when parking a vehicle on it?
Our Vented Grid-Loc Tiles will make noise when driven over. The noise is similar to Rice Krispies in milk, a lot of snaps, crackles, and pops. To help reduce this noise, we recommend using our 2mm ShockPad under the tiles. Not only will this help with reducing noise, but will help to add comfort underfoot to the tiles.
My garage floor currently has vinyl 12"x 12" press and place tiles on it. I'm considering putting these under my cars in a 8' x 12' "pad" . Will the pad slip when I pull on to them? Or is there a way to prevent that ?
The Vented Grid-Loc Tile parking pads wouldn't move under your car when placed over the existing floor under normal driving conditions. If for some reason they do move, we recommend placing and underlay under the tiles. The underlay we recommend is our 2mm ShockPad.
How do I hold the tiles in place if I do not go wall to wall? (2-2'x12' strips) under the car the length of the car.
You don't have to use anything to hold our Vented Grid-Loc Tiles in place. The weight of the floor will keep the tiles in place. If the tiles were to move, you could always add some under lay under the tiles to help give them extra traction.
Can the edge pieces go under the garage door or just outside the door? Maybe a better question is if this type of installation with the tiles going under the garage door recommended? I'm thinking of using the Vented Grid-Loc Tiles with the edge pieces to match.
When installing our Vented Grid-Loc Tiles with edging, the edging typically will go under the door or just inside the garage of where the door meets the driveway.
Can this be used in an open driveway?
You can use our Vented Grid-Loc Tiles in an open driveway. These tiles are very easy to install and maintain and are very durable being able to withstand the daily grind of a car being driven over them constantly. The only issues that you will run into are that these tiles are not very UV stable, so they may fade a bit in direct sunlight. With them being exposed to the elements, they will expand and contract more than if they were in a more controlled environment. Other than that, these tiles are great for this use.
What kind of warranty comes with the Vented Grid-Loc Tiles? Almost ready to order and using these outdoor on a concrete driveway. Also, what is the tile size?
Our Vented Grid-Loc Tiles have a 15-year warranty for manufacturer defects. The tiles would work perfectly on an outdoor concrete driveway. The only issue you may run into is that the tiles may fade in direct sunlight. The size of our tiles is 12" x 12"
Can these be cut to a smaller size than 12x12 for complete coverage?
You can cut our Vented Grid-Loc Tiles with a tile cutter, or a power saw with a fine-toothed blade to any size that you desire.
How do the vented Grid-Loc Tiles feel when walking over without shoes on, does it hurt at all?
Our Vented Grid-Loc Tiles are made of hard plastic and would be a little uncomfortable to walk on if you were to walk on them barefoot.
Can you put the Vented Grid-Loc Tiles inside/on top the Deluxe Auto Floor Guard and how well will they fit/perform?
You can install our Vented Grid-Loc Tiles on top of our Auto Floor Guard mats. They will perform the same as they would over any other flat hard surface. If you want to install the tiles over the mat, we would recommend removing the foam barrier as this may prevent the tiles from interlocking properly.
Will these tiles interlock with other tiles. I would like to have the vented tiles under the car but other tiles to the walls.
Our Vented Grid-Loc Tiles will interlock all of our other types of Grid-Loc Tiles. We offer the Grid-Loc tiles in both a Diamond and Coin pattern.
