Strong rubber tiles are very durable, easy to maintain, and easy to keep clean. Maintenance of these rubber gym tiles typically includes:
  • Vacuuming any loose crumbs, dust, or debris from the gym floor covering surface when necessary.
  • Occasional damp mopping of the sports flooring with a mild soap and water solution. A few recommended soaps are Dawn dish detergent or Tide laundry detergent.
Note: Do not use any solvent or oil style cleaners such as Pinesol, Lysol, Murphy’s Oil Soap, WD40, paint thinner, etc. since these types of cleaners will break down the flooring over time.

Installation of interlocking tiles is very simple and typically done by the consumer. Typical installation of these tiles is as follows:
  • First, clean your sub floor so it is free of all dirt, grease or debris.
  • Snap a chalk line on the sub floor 24” from one wall in your room. Snap another chalk line on the subfloor 24” from an adjacent wall. You should now have a pair of perpendicular lines making an approximate 90-degree angle.
  • Begin laying the interlocking tiles along the chalk lines, snapping the locks together as you go. Arrows are located on the back of your tiles, when installing the tiles all the arrows should be pointing in the same direction.
  • Leave the perimeter of the room open until the field is installed.
  • After the field is covered, go back and cut in tiles along the walls in the room. It is recommended to leave a gap along the wall roughly the thickness of the tiles being used to account for expansion and contraction of the floor in varied temperature ranges.
Note: When piecing interlocking tiles together, adhesives are usually not used since the weight of the locked together product is usually enough to keep the floor tiles from moving. However, if you do experience movement and would like to ensure that the tiles do not slide at all, some double-sided tape or mat tape can be used around the perimeter of the installation to prevent any movement.

How do you transition from rubber tiles in the exercise room to carpet in an adjacent room through a doorway? Is there a transition piece available?
We do offer a rubber floor ramp for our 8mm Designer Series Rubber Tiles - Coffee Creek that can help you transition your rubber flooring to your carpet. If you are looking for any other type of transition like t-molding or other types of reducers, we do have a large line of moldings that can be found on our trims & moldings page.
For the dimensions on this tile, is the 23” x 23” the solid part of the tile, or does it include the locking edges?
The 23" x 23" size included the interlocks in our 8mm Designer Series Rubber Tiles - Coffee Creek. The interlocked size for this tile is 23" x 23".
Can you install this on an outdoor patio?
lisa robbins
You can install our 8mm Designer Series Rubber Tiles - Coffee Creek outdoors. These tiles are very durable and are able to withstand the elements. Since these interlocking tiles are made from rubber, they are very slip resistant and are more slip-resistant when wet. They are very easy to clean and maintain and are resistant to mold and mildew growth. The only thing that you will notice with these rubber tiles is that in direct sunlight, they will fade over time.
Do these come with edge borders? If not, how much are border tiles? I would need 4 corner tiles and 2 border tiles to make a 46" x 69" rectangle with straight edges to go under a massage chair.
Our 8mm Designer Series Rubber Tiles only come as center tiles. To create corner and border tiles, you will need to cut the tiles with a sharp utility knife and a straight edge.

Our New Basement Floor - The Best Decision We Made

Emily from Portland, Oregon wrote...
Completed a basement remodel for a home business. What to put on the floor?!? We had much to consider: rainy Portland, wanted something extremely durable, easy to clean, quiet and soft. Could not find anything that fit our needs. Started to notice my gym's flooring and looked online for rubber flooring. We had a very difficult time trying to decide on the color. Because the ceilings are low, we did not want a dark floor and a dark room. We loved the Designer Series Strong Rubber, 8mm, in the tan color. The price held us back a bit. We could not find anything comparable. So, we went ahead with our order, but were still worried if we would like it. My husband installed the flooring. It was very easy for him to do. It totally transformed our room. Our contractors kept telling us, the floor was beautiful and was the ″STAR″ of the remodel. They marveled at how you couldn't even see the seams! I found that odd, since they didn't praise anything they did! My customers all ask, ″What is this flooring?″ ″It is REALLY nice!″ This floor never looks dirty! People track in dirt and little rocks, kids have eaten in there and left crumbs all over. But, you never see anything on the floor. The seams are really tight and the tiles are heavy, so dirt doesn't stick between the tiles. We have accidentally dropped heavy tools on the floor and there are no nicks or dents! Couple of things to think about. We put masking tape on the floor, before we painted the woodwork. It left darker gummy marks in some areas. We can't get it off (never did call the company to find a solution). Thankfully we bought extra tiles. Do not put masking tape on the floor! Also, the plywood underneath the tiles, was not perfectly flat. When we walked on the rubber tiles we could feel raised spots. We removed the tiles and scraped down the floor in those areas. The tiles lift off easily with a paint can opener. Beautiful looking and extremely durable floor!!

I love the new exercise room floor. Installation wasn't too bad. Just a bit difficult around door frames. I suggest cutting it square around the frames and filling it in with small scrap pieces.
